Ferro Concrete Barges on the Orwell

There are at least two Ferro Concrete Barges at Pin Mill on the Orwell. One is a stem head, used as a houseboat, and one an open swim head.

The history of these is told by this thecretefleet.com (Concrete Ship & Mulberry Blog) article. The article also covers the Ferro Concrete Barge, FB.159,which was damaged and sunk in Ipswich Docks in 1949 (could it have been the one in this photograph?). The two hundred tons of grain were pumped out into wagons and used! It was raised and subsequently used as a breakwater which has now been subsumed into Ipswich Grain Terminal. There is no sign of it today.
