George Arnott

George (W.G.) Arnott – George, a Woodbridge Estate Agent and Auctioneer clearly loved the Deben. He wrote The Place-names of the Deben Valley Parishes, published in 1946. This is a reference work built partly upon the research of the Redstone family; Suffolk estuary: the story of the River Deben, published in 1950 extends the earlier work and gives thorough coverage of what was known.  Arnott also wrote books about the Orwell1Orwell Estuary. The Story of Ipswich River (With Harwich and the Stour). by Arnott, W G – 1954 and Alde Estuaries.

His yacht was the L’Atalanta2L’Atalanta was subsequently owned by Robert Simper. ,which he kept on the quay at Waldringfield, and from which he often visited the Rocks with his chums.
