14AUG24 there was a surge, it built up very quickly as can be seen from the graph. Two stream measurements were made from a yacht taking the difference between STW and SOG. HHA Tide Data for the period here, times are BST. HW 0700 3.3m, LW 1245 1.4m, HW 1930 3.3m Range 1.85 average (neap rate is 2.3m)
1235BST by Felixstowe Ledge, Diamond N reads 0 at HW+0530 [=1230BST], instruments said 1.1kt flood. HHA guage gave +0.5m surge. So 1.1kt excess tide equivalent to HW-5 which is nearly 2 hours early.
1335BST near Armada, Diamond P should read 0.3kt @189 flood and HW-00600, instruments said 1.8kt flood, HHA guage gave 0.6m surge. So 1.5kt excess tide equivalent to 2 hours early.
